Memorial Weekend Adventures on Film

Here is a short little film I put together from our weekend on the lake.
We were even able to get a kite to fly for longer than 20 seconds.
That was huge, as normally kites & my family do not get along very well.
This was a very special kite.
Also, the wheat thins at the end of the video
are most definitely mine for when I need a
little break from the fish.
Enjoy!

A Rainy Memorial Weekend

Just a few pictures of fish, lilly pads, lures, & my fisher boy from our weekend at the lake. You might be wondering why Lee is not pictured with any fish? Well, that is because he did not catch any worthy of pictures, sad face. We caught plenty of bass, but none were really all that gigantic. Still, that adrenaline rush when your lure has finally been swallowed after
all those casts will be the greatest feeling no matter the size in the end.

Every fish feels giant to me. Me: that ones big Lee, Lee: no not really. Basically I wanted them to be big so that he would allow me to take a picture, but nope. Darn it. Bass will always be my favorites to catch. They're such little acrobats jumping out of the water.

Lastly, a thought provoking conversation we had in the boat one night was about midget fish and if some of the small ones we were catching were really 28 year old grandpa fish. How do we know? Are there midget fish? I am about to google away and get to the bottom of this.

Holding Catfish

Here are some photos from our day catfishing the Red back in April
My biggest was a 10 pounder & Lee's was 14.
They're not the prettiest things, but they sure are fun to fight.
We are off to the lake this Memorial weekend to reel in some big ole bass.
Enjoy the long weekend everyone!

Doily Shorts Makeover DIY

Hollister jeans cut into shorts from the 9th grade people - ripped & ragged

My doily's are from JoAnn fabrics, I used the off white color & bought matching thread.

Those things your grandmother once used to
beautify the table - yep they are sitting inside of your
shorts looking fabulous. FYI, these shorts had the most gigantic rip up
the side, which required a large piece of doily. Normally I would
do both sides with smaller slits, but something needed to cover
my bare leg.
Now go make your shorts pretty!

DIY wire heart ring

seriously you guys, i whipped this bad boy up in less than 5 minutes. SO EASY. the only ingredient you need is wire. mine is from hobby lobby and it's just basic crafting wire nothing too fancy. i will let you know how tarnishing goes and if it's one of those that turn your finger blue. that's the worst.

*you may also want to use a pliers instead of your hands, but i do not yet own a pliers (shame on me being a carpenter's daughter) i just suffered through the poky wirey pain.

1. depending on how big or small you want the heart to lay on your finger make a sort of S shape on the end of your wire (this forms the heart)

2. basically another view of step 1, starting to pull the center U of the heart together

3. squeeze the heart together both outside edges & the inner U discussed in step 2

4. your heart should look somewhat like this, i just let the end touch the other, but you could twist & wrap (pliers required for that part)

5. wrap the "ring" part around a pen or highlighter in my case or anything close in resemblance to your finger size to begin to mold & shape the circle

6. wrap that same part around your finger to test the size & form to your exact finger shape

7. cut the extra wire using a cutting device, in my case a scissors worked

8. you may twist the straight end into any design or loop that you would like, for now mine is plain & simple

it's as easy as bending wire.

10 Commandments Ali Style

i read an article in a magazine a couple of weeks ago and it talked about creating the 10 Commandments to your individual life. i thought it was just the coolest idea that i couldn't not create a list of my very own. so here you have it, these are the items in which i strive to abide by each & every day. what do you hope to portray in your days here on earth?

have a lovely little weekend. lee's off killing turkeys & i get to attend another wedding along with maybe possibly studying for finals. yuck.
